Ok, I work as a delivery driver at Dominos Pizza and I was closing the store. It was about 11:45pm and I was making a delivery, so I turned out onto aroad that runs next to my store and went north. I noticed that there was an officer that went past me before I made my left hand turn to get on the road. So I made my turn and continued to go north, just behind the officer. the officer was going about 45 mph in a 40mph zone. I was going about 47 mph, and I continued to pass the officer. Nothing happened, and the officer showed no sign of me doing anything wrong. I kept going my speed for another mile or so with the officer behind me by a few cars. Then I noticed that he turned into my lane, I was not too alarmed because I figured I was going a reasonable speed, so I kept going. Then, after about 45 second more he decided to flip his lights on and pull me over. At this point I thought that it would be obsurd of him to give me a ticket, and I was wondering why I was getting pulled over. He pulls me over, asks the usual questions, and says that I was going 10mph over the speed limit (Bullshit). I had all my crap ready for him when he came to my door, and he walked away with it. I figured he would just let me off with a warning, it wasn't like I was hauling ass past him or something that was drastic enough for a ticket. Anyways, he comes back with a ticket and I tell him that I am not an idiot and I saw him there and thought I was allowed to drive a few mph over the limit. the officer didn't care much and I went on my way. The ticket is for $147, and in my opinion, I should not of even been pulled over. The only reasons why he pulled me over were:
A. He thought I was drunk (there is a bar next to the Dominos I work at)
or
B. He pulled me over because I passed him, even though I was going a reasonable speed.Ohh well, I think I am going to try and fight this one in court. Do I have any chance at winning if he shows up? I think my argument will be that he should have given me a WARNING at the first sight of me speeding, instead of 2 miles down the road. I saw the officer driving, and I didn't do anything unreasonable in his presence (I did not want to get a ticket). I had an officer at my High School that told me cops only pull over people if they are going around 12+mph over the limit. Even some of those people have been given warnings. Ohh yeah, and this is my first ticket! I'm 18 years old and have been driving delivery for a year or so and I own a Twin Turbo!I was doing good too! ;(
Just had to share my story, ohh on a sidenote...
There was a time when police officers actually had a purpose, but now it seems all they do is give traffic tickets. WTF, why dont they go save families from being murdered. Why the fuck are my tax dollars going to finance this bullshit. Anyways, I am pissed, time to go play some Tac-Ops and blow up some swat team :) (no I dont want to kill police officers IRL)
Also, I dont deliver pizzas in my Z, I deliver in my beater MR2 :)
